
Sandy Lockhart is a litigator whose practice includes public law as well as criminal defence.
Experience
Before joining the firm, Sandy clerked with Justices Frankel and Tysoe of the Court of Appeal for British Columbia. There he worked on general civil matters, judicial reviews, and criminal appeals. In addition, Sandy summered at Davies Ward Phillips Vineberg. He worked in the litigation group on complex commercial files as well as sport law matters. During law school he participated in numerous moots. His teams placed second overall at the Out on Bay Street Moot and received the prize for best appellant's factum at the Walsh Family Law Moot.
Sandy has appeared at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Justice.
Education
Sandy received a J.D. with honours from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. There he received the W.P.M. Kennedy Silver Medal and was a Junior Fellow at Massey College. He also won prizes in tax, tort, criminal, labour, and property law. Sandy completed his first year of law school at the University of Alberta.
Prior to law school Sandy studied Economics at the University of British Columbia and Criminology at Simon Fraser University.
Memberships
Sandy was called to the Ontario Bar in 2017. He is a member of the Advocates’ Society, and the Canadian Bar Association. Sandy is 2018-2019 secretary for the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law section of the Ontario Bar Association.
